Terrain Awareness

By applying position and attitude information from the aircraft's GPS receiver and flight sensors against on-board topographical databases, the Sierra system's Synthetic Vision technology is able to create, display, and update in real time amazingly accurate 3D images of the terrain ahead of your aircraft on the Primary Flight Display (PFD).

In this example, the peak ahead rises above the horizon line and the flight path marker on the PFD, warning you that it is higher than the aircraft's altitude.

With accuracy tolerances of 7 meters or less, Sierra's Synthetic Vision provides situational awareness that up until now has never been feasible.
