Situational Awareness

Approaches to unfamiliar airports, or under less-than-optimum conditions of weather or darkness can test any pilot's mettle.

With the Synthetic Vision of the Sierra EFIS and its integrated Highway In The Sky (HITS) technology, you can put doubt and uncertainty behind you forever.

In this example, the Primary Flight Display (PFD) is showing a HITS skyway (the "tunnel" of green boxes) to help bring the aircraft to a safe landing. You can clearly see the runway—the light gray strip just to the left of the flight path marker—at the end of the boxes.

Notice how closely the mountains in the 3D image on the PFD conform to the actual mountains in the photo.
